REQUEST AN ABSENTEE BALLOT
Request your absentee ballot early. It’s easy by going here. Make sure you do to provide plenty of time for your county to process your request, the U.S. Postal Service to deliver it to you and for you to get it back to your county by 7 p.m. on the day of the election.
Return Your Ballot
Absentee ballots can be submitted to local elections offices by mail as soon as you receive it. Fill out your ballot carefully and be sure to sign where indicated on the back of the outer envelope. You can hand deliver your completed ballot to your registrar or a ballot drop box in your county.
If you mail your ballot, the USPS normally recommends doing so at least a week ahead, but the holiday crush could delay delivery.
You must provide your own postage.
VOTER REGISTRATION TO VOTE IN AN UPCOMING ELECTION IS 30 DAYS BEFOREHAND
There are many convenient ways to register to vote. Most people do when they get or renew their driver’s license. You can also do it online here, at public libraries, military recruiting offices or where state agencies offer benefit programs like Food Stamps and Medicaid. You can register year-round, but only people who are registered 30 days before any particular election can vote in it.
VOTE IN PERSON
Early voting can help you avoid having to wait in line on Election Day. Georgia offers three weeks of early voting – including at least one Saturday. During the early-voting period, you may vote at any polling place in your county. If one has a long line, you can use one that has a shorter wait. Find early-voting locations and times here.
